Synapsis
Indian actress and trans-activist Living Smile Vidya had no TV-show to rescue her from the steadily growing radical Hindu fascism in her home country. So Living Smile Vidya aka „Smiley“ has flown to Switzerland 6 years ago. In India, Smiley was a heroine and star for some, yet an unbearable provocation to others. With lots of wit and physical effort, she tells the story of her past, as well as her disillusioning arrival in Swiss reception camps.
INTRODUCING LIVING SMILE VIDYA won the Swiss Theatre Prize "Theatre Production 2023", awarded by the Federal Department of Culture. She was also one of the asylum seeking protagonists in the film „Die Anhörung“ („L’audition“ / „The Hearing“) by Lisa Gerig, which won the Swiss Film Award for "Best Documentary 2023".
